In July, we showed you a glimpse of what our alumni gatherings have been like in the past year and a half. Now that we are approaching the New Year, we are happy to share a recap of our fall travels.
October began with my colleague Bence heading to Central Asia, where he hosted alumni gatherings in Astana, Almaty, Bishkek, Tbilisi, and Baku. His schedule was packed (and yes, I was the one behind the scenes juggling free spots for the alumni gatherings, so I know just how much), but the photos he sent back told a different story—they looked more like festive celebrations than formal meetings! Bence couldn’t stop raving about the incredible food and the warm hospitality of the locals.
Next, it was my turn to travel, and I did so all the way to Latin America. I had the pleasure of hosting alumni gatherings in Medellin and Quito. Naturally, food was a central part of these meetups, and I can confidently say I was not disappointed. The best part? Meeting alumni who spoke so fondly of their time in Pécs. Despite the challenges that sometimes come with organizing these events, it’s moments like these that make it all worthwhile.
In November, my colleague Anna traveled to Nairobi. It was her second time in the country, and based on the stories she shared, I hope one day I will get to visit as well. While Anna was in Africa, our colleague Sára flew all the way to Indonesia, where she hosted three meetings in three different cities. She mentioned that the event in Jakarta stood out as particularly special. With the support of the Hungarian Embassy, the gathering had a wonderful turnout, and the evening was filled with stories of Hungary and heartfelt connections. Finally, my colleague Csaba rounded off the year's recruitment tours. He visited Duba, where he learned about the efforts in building a community for ex-pats living there. And in Jordan, he met a nice number of alumni who showed him hospitality and a little bit of Amman.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this fall. When organizing these events, sometimes it all feels a little overwhelming. But it's always nice to know that we have, at least a couple, of familiar faces in the cities we travel to. If you can't join us this time around, don't worry. The 2025 spring travel season is fast approaching and we have new destinations in sight. If you wish to learn more about them, the initial dates have already been posted on our website.
Unilt then, here are some pictures of our fall travels.
